Breaking free from Beijing: Why America must stop buying China’s drones
Michigan Congressman John Moolenaar (R-MI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on the CCP, is sounding the alarm on the growing security threats posed by China and the urgent need for lawmakers and the American people to pay closer attention.
Congressman Moolenaar has called on Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to conduct a full security review of Chinese drone manufacturers, noting that China’s surveillance state controls roughly 80% of the drone market through companies such as DJI, including usage by law enforcement agencies.
CUSP echoes these concerns. America has become dangerously dependent on Chinese-made products, including drones, that directly empower Beijing’s surveillance and military ambitions. The removal of DJI drones from government agencies was a first step, but more must be done.
Congressman Moolenaar’s message is clear: American CEOs, companies and investors must be held accountable for prioritizing our domestic interests and capacities over propping up China’s dominance. This is about securing America’s future, and it starts with ending our reliance on those who wish to undermine us.
