President Trump to Prioritize Vape Epidemic in Upcoming China Meeting

The flood of Illegal vapes from China continues to threaten the health and safety of communities across America, especially younger Americans who are primary targets of the dangerous products. It is an issue that President Trump has stated he will prioritize in his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping

In a recent report following an interview with President Trump, Mathew Foldi with the Washington Reporter  wrote that he is expected to cover “China’s extensive track record of flooding American markets with illicit vapes.” The fact that illegal vapes will be addressed demonstrates the President’s continued commitment to stopping the flood of harmful products in his second term. In September 2025, Operation Vape Trail seized 2.3 million in illicit vapes, $3.5 million, and 115 firearms.

It is not just the executive branch noticing this escalating issue. Senate Republicans have called on Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to use their enforcement and diplomatic authorities to not just combat the illicit vape industry, but also prevent future shipments from entering the United States.

Preventing these shipments is critical as China’s new tactic includes not just illegal nicotine vapes, but also illegal nicotine analog vapes in an attempt to skirt regulations. Nicotine analogs are known to be extremely dangerous because they are not subject to the FDA’s testing process. All of these vapes are unregulated, and their contents are unknown. The picture is clear, China doesn’t care about safety, they care about profit.

CUSP praises President Trump and leaders in Congress for their focus on preventing illegal Chinese vapes. America is not a vape testing ground, and the time for enforcement is now.
