CUSP Poll Finds 70% of Parents support Stronger Enforcement to Rid Communities of Illegal Vapes
NEW SURVEY SHOWS OVERWHELMING PARENT CONCERN OVER HOW ILLEGAL VAPES—AND THE STORES THAT SELL THEM—ARE IMPACTING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THEIR COMMUNITIES
A new nationwide survey of 1,006 parents finds overwhelming concern about the spread of illegal vape products and strong bipartisan support for tougher enforcement against the stores that sell them. Parents view illegal vapes not as a niche regulatory issue, but as a direct threat to community safety. Across demographic and geographic lines, parents favor legislation and enforcement actions to remove these unregulated products from their neighborhoods.
The findings reinforce that enforcement of illegal products is both politically durable and publicly supported, particularly when connected to community safety, youth health, and rule of law.
KEY FINDINGS
70% of parents support stronger enforcement to remove illegal vape products from their communities.
73% of parents agree that stores selling illegal vapes pose safety concerns in their community.
78% of parents favor legislation that supports enforcement efforts to combat illegal vape distribution.
These results demonstrate that parents do not view illegal vape sales as a victimless offense. Instead, they see them as contributing to broader public safety concerns and undermining community standards.
Across all key subgroups, concern about illegal vape availability is widespread and intense.
