RELEASE: New Poll Finds Trump Voters Against Vaccine Policy Changes
49 PERCENT OF TRUMP VOTERS DO NOT SUPPORT CHANGES TO VACCINE POLICY
Washington, D.C., September 18, 2025 – A new Morning Consult survey commissioned by Communities United for Smart Policy (CUSP) finds that most Americans recognize the importance and benefits of vaccines, the majority do not support altering existing vaccine policy or the childhood vaccine schedule, including almost half of Trump voters.
Key findings from the nationally representative survey include:
Broad recognition of benefits: 86% agree vaccines are beneficial for preventing illness.
Policy concerns: 61% of respondents say they did not vote for changes to vaccine policy. Among Trump voters, 49% say they did not vote for such changes. Only 16% overall said vaccines played a role in their voting.
Childhood vaccine schedule: 74% of all respondents believe the current childhood vaccine schedule should remain in place, including 64% of Trump voters.
Potential electoral impact: Trump voters report they would reconsider their support if vaccine access is restricted. 14% say they would be less likely to vote Republican in the 2026 midterms, and 15% say they would be less likely to vote Republican in the 2028 presidential election.
“Vaccines remain one of our strongest tools for protecting children and communities, and most Americans, including supporters of President Trump, still recognize that fact,” said former U.S. Representative and CUSP Senior Advisor Michael Burgess, MD. “This survey clearly shows voters are uneasy with sudden changes to vaccine policy, especially when they never asked for them. Ignoring that reality risks setbacks in public health and serious political consequences.”
This poll was conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of CUSP between September 8-10, 2025, among a national sample of 2,330 registered voters. Results from this portion of the survey carry a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
