the importance of "enforcement action" against illegal Chinese-made disposable flavored vapes

At Communities United for Smart Policy, we believe that actions speak louder than words. Nowhere is this more true than with regard to illegal Chinese-made disposable vapes, which are flooding our communities and targeting our youth with kid-enticing flavors. While the recent warning letters issued by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to manufacturers including Elf Bar, Esco Bars, Puff Bar, and Breeze Smoke are a good start, we know there's much more to be done to protect American kids and teens from the dangers of these illegal vapes.

The administration's recognition of the importance of "enforcement action" against illegal Chinese-made disposable flavored vapes is a positive step forward. However, parents and community leaders know that words alone are not enough.

Now is the time to unite and redouble our efforts. We must persist until these dangerous products are removed from American store shelves and kept out of the hands of minors.

To that end, it is crucial for the Biden administration to demonstrate unequivocal leadership and provide clear guidance to consumers and retailers about which devices are legal and illegal. Our kids’ safety is at stake, and the FDA must act decisively, along with state and local enforcement agencies, to protect their future.

We hope the FDA will continue to prioritize compliance and enforcement action against illegal Chinese-made disposable vape manufacturers and distributors. Yet, there's no room for complacency. We must continue to advocate for change until the job is completed.
