CUSP Statement on Make Our Children Healthy Again Report

CUSP applauds Secretary Kennedy’s passion for protecting and promoting America’s health. From specific focuses on nutrition, chemical exposure, physical activity declines and chronic stress, to empowering families with knowledge and fostering private sector collaboration, the report provides a broad range of strategies to combat the chronic diseases impacting kids and those who care for them, including several areas CUSP has made a priority.

The Trump Administration has already demonstrated a commitment to tackling the rise of illicit vapes in our communities through strong enforcement actions, including this week’s raids in six different states. This health and public safety threat was left unchecked for years as the Biden Administration relied on fines and other weak enforcement measures. The combined strategy of enforcement and awareness, as outlined in the report, will help protect America’s youth from harmful products from China and the dangerous influence that comes from China’s intrusion in our communities.

While we applaud Secretary Kennedy’s passion for protecting and promoting the health of America’s children, we encourage a common-sense approach. Parents are right to be concerned about the role government plays in the health care decisions they make for themselves and their families, but we caution against any action that may limit access to trusted childhood vaccines as an overcorrection to flawed decisions the Biden administration made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
